Building Update for Piedmont Atlanta Tower: Week of August 18-25

Peachtree Road Lane Closings: Crews will begin work on Wednesday, August 18, along Peachtree Road cutting asphalt to install water tie-ins that will connect to the Piedmont Atlanta Tower. Work is expected to last until the beginning of September, weather permitting. During this time, there will be intermittent lane closures along Peachtree Road outside of the hospital (near Jimmy Johns).

Most work will take place on the weekends to help minimize traffic throughout the week, beginning next weekend with work on northbound lanes. Crews will lay metal plates to cover over road excavation lines in between work hours, and the road will be repaved once work is complete.

Tower Cranes: Tower cranes are currently being erected in the fenced-off construction area. All three cranes will be erected by the middle of September.

Noise Levels Outside East Tower: Crews continue work outside the East tower and the offices near the former 1-Center location. Patients and staff may feel slight vibrations and hear drills during this time.

Major Site Excavation: Site excavation continues this week near the drilling sites. Trucks will exit onto Peachtree Road throughout the day and may cause brief intermittent traffic. Any loose dirt is removed from the trucks before exiting the construction site to ensure they do not compromise safety of patients, visitors or general traffic.

Rock Blasting: Crews are currently excavating the site for rock blasting needs. Any necessary blasts will take place as needed at 2:15 p.m.
