As Piedmont continues work to widen Collier Road, a single lane of Collier Road will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily from Monday, Oct. 14, through Wednesday, Oct. 16. This lane closure will allow the road to be milled to prepare for paving. The road will remain in the milled condition from Wednesday, Oct. 16, through Sunday, Oct. 27, to allow the City of Atlanta to properly abandon seven old water lines that had been previously paved over.
Starting again on Monday, Oct. 28, a single lane of Collier Road will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily to apply the asphalt top coat. This will continue daily until the asphalt top coat application is fully complete.
The sidewalk closure on Piedmont’s side of Collier Road from Hospital Drive to Peachtree Road will continue through March 2020, when the additional lane on Collier Road is scheduled to open. After the October roadwork on Collier Road, additional work impacting lane closures is not expected until January 2020, when a lane closure will take place on Peachtree Road to ease the northwest corner at Peachtree and Collier roads.
In March 2020, after the traffic signal upgrades are completed at the intersection of Collier and Peachtree roads, the team anticipates single lane closures on Peachtree Road to mill and asphalt the intersection at Collier and Peachtree, as well as the new softened northwest corner of the intersection.
Thank you for your continued patience as we work to improve the roads in the community.
